I mounted the 10X infinity microscope objective with the Raynox DCR150 as the tube lens on the bellows and extension tube and staged a focus stacking session of the antenna of a local white moth with black and white striping scales. The session is a 284 image stack taken at 6-micron increment steps for each shot with the stack of images processed in Zerene Stacker.

Thanks, Jblazar. A bit different view of the pattern of the antenna and wispy long scales that caught my eye.

It is amazing what beauty is out there right in front of our eyes.

Thanks, Brenda. I am fascinated (well fixated) on seeing new details in what I come across and the antenna on this tiny white moth is near impossible to see unless viewed under magnification. The hint of "dashes" which I thought were segments were actually bands of black and dark brown scales evenly spaced between white sections of scales. The neck scales are quite 'hair like' and wispy which I would not know otherwise.

Kpmac, I'm like a shark where it is said that they have to keep moving or they will sink to the bottom so if I stop being behind the camera I too may sink.

Exceptionally sharp! I suspect the reception is pretty good - how many channels?

Thanks, Raymondh. Certain types of moth have an olfactory sensitivity that verges on the supernatural. They can detect a single molecule of the female sex hormone with their antenna from miles away..!
