Just purchased Epson XP-970 photo printer on sale for $229.99 at Staples and Walmart. I have the XP-960 which I have printed 4x6 inch to 11x17 inch photos since the XP-960 first came out. The XP-970 uses the same ink cartridges which are a little pricey but the results are great especially on Red River metallic photo paper. If you don’t need to print any larger than 11x17 this printer might work for you. All I can say is that I have never been disappointed with Epson printers and I love the results of my photos. I also purchased the 4 year device protection for $49.99, just for peace of mind since I print a lot of correspondence as well as CD and DVD printables. Just happened to see this online while searching for the next newer printer in case mine stopped working and got a pleasant surprise! Hope this helps anyone.
Same price at B&H until Aug 28 at 11:59 PM EDT.
That is a great deal. In my opinion Epson printers are the best. Never had one dry up on me, print faithfully and well
I've even used out-of-date ink cartridges with excellent results. Epson printers are first class.

Thanks! I am looking at printers because my HP is basically a POS.
How is it with B&W Prints?
I do a lot of B&W as large as 11”x 17” and they are beautiful especially if you use
Red River metallic paper.
Thanks for the heads u., I've been looking for a new photo printer, and just ordered this one.

Is your XP-960 still working? My XP-950 is still performing. I bought it many years ago from Epson's refurb site for $106. Six months ago I started using refillable carts w/autoreset chips. (Precision Colors bulk Ink) 3 years ago I got the "end of Life" message so I took out the waste ink tank, cleaned and dried the sponges, reinstalled the tank and after using a $3.49 reset key I was back up and running. I do use Qimage to automatically print a 5x7 purge image every 3 days. I almost wish it would die because I've been longing for a new wider format printer. The XP-9xx series are solid printers.
My XP-960 is still working but bought the new XP-970 because it was on sale and already know it well give me the same performance as the XP-960.

My current wish list includes the Epson XP15000, Epson ET 8550 and (if I go to 16x20) the Canon Pro 1000. My XP-950 does B&W okay but I think they could be better with a gray ink. I would miss the scanner but my wife could let me use hers.
