I agree 100%! MPB is trustworthy, efficient, and fair.

I have bought several Canon lenses from MPB. They were exactly as advertised and arrived quickly. I had a 1956 Rolleiflex 2.8D repaired by KEH. They were great to work with and quickly did a great repair. I had a Canon EOS R that I wanted to trade-in and upgrade to a Canon EOS R5, I contacted Adorama and they offered a preliminary quote, subject to evaluation. I sent it to them and they received it two days later according to UPS tracking. A week later they acknowledged that they had it and would give me a price within 6 days. It has a shutter count of less than 1,000, is like new in every respect and included the original box, packaging and all original components. I am still waiting to hear from them and it was shipped 13 days ago. I went ahead with the purchase of the new camera. I am disappointed with Adorama's slow response to the point where I will be reluctant to deal with them in the future.

But you said you were waiting to get a check back from Visa. Besides if you returned the lenses mpb would just credit your Visa, not write a check.

Are you trying to find fault with me? See if you can understand this. I was not happy with the lenses. MPB paid for the return shipping. I returned the lenses within two days of receiving them. I paid for them with Visa. They had not yet credited my Visa account when I called this past Tuesday, which has been more than a month. Quite a long time wouldn't you agree? Well, I got my Visa statement Monday and had to pay for the lenses. So, when I spoke to MPB I told them that I'd already paid for the lenses and would they do me a favor and just send me a check. The gal that I spoke to said that she would take care of it and email that night. She didn't. I called today and spoke to a guy who said that they should be able to send me the check and email me tonight and let me know. Look, I don't doubt that they'll pay me. That's not the point. From what I've read here this is an anomaly. But, what I'm saying is that this should have been taken care of long before this! Would you agree leftj ?

When they got the lenses returned to MPB and had a couple of business days to inspect them, they should have immediately credited your credit card. I think MPB is an honorable company and suspect it was a mistake on their part. I hope your name, address, email address and phone number, along with a copy of the sales slip were inside the box.

When you got your Visa bill, you chose to pay it. You could have challenged the charges. the credit card companies put that charge on hold until they investigate. That can take 2 - 3 months, and only after that time if not resolved they recharge your account. Your credit card bill probably explains this either on the back of the bill or on their website.

Yeah there’s a lot wrong with this story.

Good evening all,

I wonder whether anyone dealt with MPB camera equipment. I am interested in a Canon 100-400 IS ii They have it listed for $ 1849 ‘like new”. Seems like a fair price based on B&H listing of the product at around $2300. Thanks.

I have purchased two cameras

in “like new” condition, really were like new. Very satisfied.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the story. It seems quite plausible to me. I have a feeling the OP never encountered this type of situation and didn't know how to best handle it. Credit cards are made for problems like this.

I have used all the major resellers and found MPB to be as good or better than KEH or Fred Miranda, et al.

Decided you didn’t want something that was ‘like new”?

No, this "like new" item was missing a major part. MPB obviously did not pay close attention to the merchandise it was passing off as "like new."

Sorry, but I can't agree with all of the positive responses. On July I ordered a Sigma 60mm f2.8 DN E mount and a Sony FE 28-70mm f3.8-5.6 OSS both listed in like new condition. I had heard great things about MPB also and even recommended them from what I had heard here. Well, the items were shipped well and quickly, but the Sigma made a clunking sound whenever it was moved and the Sony was advertised as being "like new" with all original packaging, which I assumed was the original box, which I wanted. Well, it was an MPB box, not the "original" Sony. Some of you may nitpick with me but these were not as advertised AND they agreed with me and sent me a free return label from Fed Ex with no hassle. I returned them within a day. Well long story short, I got my Visa bill Tuesday (24th) and they never credited my account. I called and asked why the delay and the gal had no answer, but would email me with one that night. She didn't. She said that they received it which I know because I kept the email that they sent and the receipt from Fed Ex. So now I've got $500 sitting in my Visa account which I don't use very often. To get Visa to send me a check for that, I have to wait a month plus the month that's already elapsed. I'm not looking for any sympathy here I'm just letting you know of my experience with them. And now, I'm gun-shy about purchasing anything else from them.
Sorry, but I can't agree with all of the positive ... (show quote)

FYI

It is normal for Sigma DN 2.8 e-mount lenses to rattle/chatter when you move them and the camera is off. It is in the manual. I have the 19mm, 30mm and the 60mm. All purchased brand spanking new from B&H about 6 years ago along with my A6000. All the lenses rattle and all are still taking very nice pictures.
