The back ground was created by bouncing a strobe off broken pieces of mirror glued in a shallow box onto flat black seamless, just a slight movement and the whole thing changes, making it virtually impossible to recreate the effect.
This was used in Old movies using a mirror in water, to create a shimmering effect the pan was moved a little bit causing the water to flow back and forth and making the reflection shimmer.
I just modified it for still work.

I'd never have got that, will suggest Adobe add a mirror tray tool in their next update, lol.
Good one though.
By the way have you tried to redo your picture after the suggestions earlier, (not mine obviously!)

I'M probably a few years older than you, I have been into photography since 1955 and subscribed to most of the photography magazines at one time or another until I figure out after a while they were just reruns.
No, its not worth the trouble
I never have liked the Watercolor filter, I prefer the photograph.
I posted this image because of the "Ghost"

And that's the way it should be. Thank you for sharing the picture and the method.

There is a ghost in the background
This image was processed using Photoshop 7 and a water color filter, while I like the original image better, the "ghost" was not visible .

Interesting technique. It reminds me of my days as a techie for our community theatre group. One of the plays required having a sunken hot tub on stage, which clearly was out of the question. To create the impression of a tub I laid a 2-litre soda bottle half full of water on it's side and shone a blue light through it. I rigged an old windshield wiper motor to raise and lower one end of the bottle to create waves inside the bottle. The effect of dancing light on the walls of the room was really good.

BTW, I also prefer the unmodified image, which is very nice.

There are so many ways of doing things like this, the main drawback to this method it's all but to impossible to do the exact same thing again!!
