Purchased a D850 about a month ago and it arrived on Friday. I went to the Detroit Zoo on Sunday.
Thanks to any and all that look and please let me know what I can do to improve.

Looks like you and your camera know what you're doing!
Excellent results, Richard. Great fur and skin detail. I was there Saturday and didn't do as well. Since, you're in the area let me recommend spring, fall and winter for the best photo ops at the zoo. Animals are more active. I'm a docent at the zoo, so maybe we'll meet sometime.
You make the camera look good!
There are moments I like a blurred background and others I don't. I guess this is a personal taste/choice as to what, when, and how much to blur. The background blur in picture one distracted me while the blur in picture 3 did not. Picture two split the difference for me. I do think the composition in two is great but I personally would have liked to see that yellow bush in the background left be more in focus or at least darkened (so it didn't stand out as much). My eye kept getting dragged a bit to that darn bush where as I wanted my eye to stick with the Gorilla & the lovely contrast with the tree. I know I'm being picky :)
I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for the what, when, and how much?
Excellent series, the Gorilla in the download is superb. That camera likes you a lot!!!
Oh my! Those photos are fantastic!!! I think I need a D850!!
Only a suggestion - since the apes are black it is difficult to see their eyes. A little flash might help. Not too close, they look like they may want to wrestle a photographer.

Great set of pics. #2 looks a little mad
The camera doesn't take the photo, you do. Perhaps the 850 has some bells and whistles you like but a photo that is great has to do with the photographer. The photos you posted were great.
Great set. Amazing sharpness!
Those are very good photos! I would like a little more light on the gorillas' eyes, but consider that a quibble. Good work!

Very nice set. Good luck with you new camera.
I particularly like #1 and #2. Others are good too, however, I prefer zoo photos that do not look like they wre taken at the zoo.
