The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge has become my favorite spot. It’s huge with many places to find different species; several different paths to walk or bike (none are paved); and most of the wildlife are not residents - they fly in from all over. I never know what I’ll see. Here’s what I saw yesterday, Sat 8/21/21.

The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge has become... (

Very good shots, but pic #4 is the perfect photo, taken in the perfect moment with an amazing light.
By air or by water, your photography is excellent! Great variety, too.
Nicely done. Excellent images
Great images. Been there.
Very nice images. Wildlife refuges offer some wonderful image opportunities and you certainly have taken advantage of those opportunities.

Nice set. Great shots!
I have driven by the Preserve many times. I have never stopped as I am usually on my way to the Airport. I always have underestimated how good the Preserve might be. I thought its’ location would be a great hindrance to the amount and types of birds. My bad!
Your comments have greatly motivated me to make a special trip. Your photos have provided additional incentive. Thank you for your informative contributions and posts.
Thanks very much. Once you visit you'll keep going back. Get there as early in the morning as possible - better light and more likely to see Osprey and others dive for breakfast. I've also had luck there in late afternoon - 4pm ish.

A wonderful set Elliott. I really do have to get up there sometime.

Thanks Doc - let me know when and I'll meet you!
ecobin: thank you for your kind remarks and your sharing with us your great shots. I will get there. Recovering from shoulder replacement surgery, which holds me back right now. However, a few weeks from now I will be better than new and will stay at what used to be the Renaissance at the Airport. Get up early and get my photos in early as you suggest. Thanks again.

where is the location?
It's near the Philadelphia airport. It's a National Wildlife Refuge that gets migratory birds. It does have a few Osprey and Eagle nests.
These are remarkable shots. I wish you had posted your camera and lens settings.
I really like the 3rd image a lot.
