Former Grocery Store

This was a former grocery store. I worked there delivering groceries after School. There was a mid 70's AMC Hornet station wagon that sat just outside by the red door. I would load the groceries and deliver to mostly elderly folks that did not have a car or the desire to carry them home.
I think it paid $35 dollars a week and I had to work six hours during the week(two days) and 4 hours on Saturday.

What a neat old building. Your excellent photograph shows it off beautifully. Well done.

Very nice. It could be a building in a model train layout.

Please forgive me; my first thought was if building was in Afghanistan it would have windows blacked out and the name painted over.
Again my apologies for stepping on your wonderful story and great photograph.

Takes me back! In similar, in addition to delivery, a clerk would serve you and pick your order, a butcher would pick or cut the meat you wanted and wrap it in butcher paper. No carts. A store probably not any bigger than this. The small chain still exists, but the store is gone. Thanks for an excellent photo and a memory!

Great image!!!!
Beautiful building
Wow you got $35 a week for ten hrs work? I was making $4.85 an hr and had to supply my own tools.
In 1955 I was making $37.50 for 40 hrs

That makes me feel better working for my Surveyor dad at about the same rate at the same time. Now my grandson is working for his Surveyor dad, which makes him a 5th generation surveyor, since my dad worked for his Surveyor dad, about 100 years ago.

OP: It is a wonderfully produced image that evokes a nostalgia, yet reminds us, if built well, buildings house the future.
Thanks,
C

Nice picture. It looks like it belongs in Scotland or northern England.
