I am a pediatric nurse that is very concerned for the welfare of our children when school resumes. The fact that kids 12 and under have not had the opportunity to be vaccinated is very troublesome.

The Delta variant seems to be affecting kids and tweens and others unvaccinated

Samantha, one should know that the rewards of vaccination far outway the risk. As a parent, I can not imagine how haunting it would be to have a child succumb to COVID and not having them vaccinated. The thought of, "If I would have done it they may still be with me now" would never go away and the ghosts of children have to be the most haunting of them all.

Unfortunately, some of those to whom you refer are friends and relatives. Thank goodness, not on this branch of the tree.

Unfortunately a lot of the blame lies with our FDA. When the clinical trials of the 5 to 11 year olds were almost completed (with the number of individuals that had been agreed on), the FDA decided to double the size of the number of individuals that had to be included to detect the "rare side-effects". Since these potential problems have been seen in less than 1 out of 100,000 individuals, a doubly of the number of individuals in these clinical trials to a few thousand is still unlikely to detect such a rare side-effect. So the primary effect of the FDA's action was to result in this age group returning to school unvaccinated. For parents who were willing to make the decision to vaccinate their kids, the FDA's actions resulted in making this impossible. For some reason the FDA has been slow to act in each step of the process, first in the original Emergency Use Approval for adults, then in the approval for a third shot in older individuals, then in the regular approval of the vaccine and now in the approval for 5 to 11 year olds.

Are you talking about the heart related side-effect?

Yes those are the side-effects that have been reported from the vaccines. And the incidence of heart effects of COVID are much higher than from the vaccines.

Are much higher "than from the vaccines." What are you trying to say, cause it isn't clear English..

I am old enough to remember polio. One of my sisters had it. Until the vaccine came along it was a really scary time in this country especially if you were a kid or had children.

I'm not sure how much history is taught today but it seems like misinformation, politics and lack of education are going to cost lives and misery.

My sister who had polio was an RN in Detroit. My hats off to you and your associates. Stay safe.

Seems clear to me. The risk from COVID is more/worse than from the vaccine.
