Hello forum,
I'm hoping some helpful member has some information they would share on the M9 sensor corrosion issue. I can purchase a M9 with corrosion, however, the photos I've seen taken by the camera seem fine looking at them through LR classic as DNG files. Fantastic price due to sensor issue so I'm tempted in buying it as it would be my first Leica ever (I've always wanted one could not see spending over $4k, 5k for a used camera.
My question is do any of you know how fast corrosion spreads once detected, I would think one factor would be location of the camera, I'm in a dry relative low humidity conditions here in LA, CA, but frankly don't know any other factors and if any of you have any experience with Kolari Vision, they will replace the corroded glass for $999.
My thoughts are that since camera is taking beautiful images now, I would use it until the sensor gets worse and then have it repaired. Thank you for any input and sorry if this is too long of a post/question.
If the price is good enough that it is still a great deal with $1000 for a new sensor on top, and Kolari Vision results and reviews are good, there isn't a big downside. You've always wanted one, here is an affordable one. IMHO, digital cameras are kind of like appliances - unlike film Leicas which seem dam' near immortal, digital any brand is going to go down some day. Till then, run, gun, and have fun!
Thank you for the link, definitely gives me something to think about.

Exactly, asking price is $1200 and $1000 for repairs, then maybe $350 to 500 for cla and new cover and I have a Leica for years to come. At least that's my rationale to get it, thanks for your input.
Several years ago, my M9 took thousands of beautiful images, which I still have. When it died, I bought two newer Leica Ms, which I never loved. I expect you will love yours.

Thank you Don, that is pretty much what I have read and heard from people I know that have owned the M9 at one time or another, the camera has a special rendering that is not present on the newer models, I guess that is what appeals to me even from a 12 year old camera.
