How do you ID a moth? This one is gorgeous--outside and in. The inside color (gold/brown) caught me when it was flying; it landed before I could get a pic... and it did not open its wings once landed. I'm sorry I did not take more time to take better pics. One of these pics is focused on antennae, the other on the wing color and patterns.
I think you be right--red admiral. Looked at antennae and wing undersidespics--seem to match. Fav catepillar food is nettle--i hate nettle--lots around. Ill see if i can get more and better pics. Pretty cool little butterfly. Thanks

Beautiful shot of a fine whatever it is 🌀💙🌀
Pretty sure it is one of this group Nymphalidae. The amount of blue throws me, also the prominence of the "eyes" on the wings. Red Admiral, possibly, but a lot of blue. Very interesting, thanks!
Google lens plugin on Chrome browser on Android also identifies it ad a Red Admiral. I don't see the red mark in the wing - but am no butterfly expert.

An easy way for me to tell the difference between a butterfly and a moth is that a butterfly rests with its wings up ward and a moth rests with its wings flat on its back.
