This Mite Be A Problem...
Holy Cow..!! Somethings simply cannot be seen with the unaided eye and this is truly one of them. Sometimes things come easy and this Longhorn Beetle came in the door last night and was crawling about on the wall...well, that did not work out well for it with my ever handy pill bottles.
I staged it for a session this morning and I was shocked to see how infested with mites it was. They had to be driving it crazy for I know how uncomfortable it is when chiggers get on me. Oh well, at least it is at peace now.

Thanks, Carol. It made me itch when I first seen it.
Beautifully photographed.
As you have so aptly demonstrated many times, the insect world is a very cruel, vicious world - But it gives you great subjects - Excellent shot
Remarkable yet again! if you haven't come across this, it might amuse.
Siphonaptera" is a name used[1] to refer to the following rhyme by Augustus De Morgan (Siphonaptera being the biological order to which fleas belong):
Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em,
And little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum.
And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on;
While these again have greater still, and greater still, and so on.[2]
They just get better and better, sippy.

Thanks, Tramsey. It is truly a "bug eat bug" world.

Thanks, Kpmac. Unfortunately, it gives me the heebie-jeebies and I'm sure that I'll feel like they will be crawling on me all night.
Now you might stage a mite!
Great stack, Gary!!

Elliott, I have the beetle with its mites preserved now and I can go up to 20X with my rig although I'd have to think about how to get something that I can't even see staged for the camera. I'd likely need to scrape them onto a microscope slide.
