I have a mini SD card in my Android phone for my music. Every so often (recently) the phone tells me the card is corrupt. I take the card out and read it on a computer. The card is fine. I put the card back in the phone. It is also fine. So maybe try it a couple of times.

As I read it, the problem is using the adapter. Even if the adapter works elsewhere, there may be a power issue. Try another adapter if you have one.

For example, I have an automated telescope that started giving power too low for camera messages. Worked fine until this summer. Needs 3A which is max for USB power source I have. Found issues with some cables not others, USB extension cables not liked, guess connection causes loss. Also some 6' cables ok, others not. Took sometime to fine combination that worked.

There are/were portable harddrives with card slots that are designed for backup without a computer, but I check with others to see if they work.

I also travel a lot, like you, and although I do take my laptop for quick edits and uploads to Facebook and other location... Just like you, I want that Extra insurance... On one 3 week trip to Paris, France, my laptop "died" during the second day out... and I was "out of luck for that backup" so had to sparingly, make sure I had copies onto my 8 128 Meg SD cards and worked very hard at keeping them clean... Vowed to never let that happened again..

Sooo, I bought a portable storage device when I got home...

May I offer the following for your kind consideration,

NEXTO DI NPS-10 Nexto Photo Storage device ~~ which is offered at B&H, but can be found at other locations...

Key Features
Portable Photo / Video Backup Unit
Review Photo & Video Content
2.4" 320x 240 Color LCD Display
1 x CompactFlash Type 1 Card Slot
2 x UHS-II SD Card Slots
1 x microSD Card Slot
1 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C Port
1 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A Port
Data Transfers up to 320 MB/s
Windows, Mac, and Linux Compatible

The KEY Feature of this device, unlike others, is that you can view your content on a builtin LCD screen

A URL for the product is listed below:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1481554-REG/nexto_di_nps_10_cfast_portable_all_in_1.html

As for me, I will continue to carry my laptop, but I fully believe in Backup, Backup, Backup... and am serious about making copies all the time.......... I also, if and/when I get next to a good internet connection, will also send my images to my cloud account...

I fully know that there are many different solutions out there, and range in size and price as well and device functionalities .......... BUT, the above device allows you "view" your backups and insure, they are "OK" at that point in time...

Hope the above can help you and I wish you safe travels..... and Keep on Clicking

Cheers

I also recommend the NEXTO, which worked great on our 2019 Dec Antarctica trip...search this forum for "Backing up SD Cards to SSD Sans Lap Top" which includes comparison of many schemes.

The simplest method is to take enough SD cards for the number of photos you plan to take, plus a couple. Number them and use them in sequence. Not which card(s) were used on what date, for chronological filing. Then, worry about backing things up when you get back home. That keeps things simple.

The phone gives me an error: drive is corrupt. Then it wants to format it. The card is fine. It is fine in the camera and computer.
Any ideas?

Another way to back up my photos without having to bring my laptop. This is an 18 trip and trying to minimize the load.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is a good option in my way of thinking ~~ either with a laptop or with NO laptop

As I said, my laptop "died" and as with any mechanical device when you are away from home, plan for the obvious disaster...

Please forgive me if this question sounds ridiculous but does your camera support any sort of bluetooth connectivity. I use the Nikon SnapBridge App on my Samsung Android to download photos from my D500 to accomplish what you are looking to do.

SD Cards are cheap. Buy four or five 32GB cards and you should be ok for 18 days, unless you are using a spray and pray method of shooting. In fact, unless you are going to shoot sports and/or birds, two may suffice.

Yep keep it simple sd cards are cheap. Probably cheaper than a roll of film before processing.

Have you tried an Internet search "file transfer to google pixel from "camera model"
Looks like a usb cable can work between camera and phone

B & H photo has some solutions, mainly a fast portable drive with lots of memory and a viewing screen. Would be a good investment. I purchased a mini iPad with 256 memory and load my bird photography trips onto this with an Apple Card reader. Not cheap, but I love it. I can view my photos each day and create an album for editing later, or do some immediate editing on Snapseed, which is great for social networking posts.

I am just completing an 18 day trip with over 2,000 images taken. I used the software available for my Olympus camera to wirelessly transfer my images to my phone at the end of each day, and then from my phone, I uploaded the day's work to my cloud storage. Pretty easy process. So doing this I'm creating two backups: one in the phone and one set in the cloud.

I did a Panama Canal cruise. I went with the wait till I get home strategy. Never again.
Thru some small miracle I was able to read my card after trying 3 different laptops.
And after finally getting the files read and off to my cloud storage, the camera itself couldn't read the card.
The inexpensive P&S also would not lock in any memory card.
GAS Attack, my first DSLR . . .
Card and Camera both went south - what are the odds? And happening in a destination that I'll probably never return to.
I vacation quite a bit, just rarely return to most destinations.
That backup device with the viewer from B&H seems like an ideal solution. Better than me lugging my 17" laptop . . .
