In 1940, my dad bought a new Ford convertible (baby blue with red leather interior) and paid $600! He picked up my mom and her girlfriend who happened to be hitchhiking to the beach on a summer Sunday morning. He sold the car in 1942 when he went into the army. There's no question that his 1940 baby blue Ford convertible was pivotal in my being.
By the way, the Ford had a button on the floor (like a headlight dimmer switch) that changed the radio stations. For a while, he had my mom convinced that he could change stations just by thinking about it.
In high demand in the 50's for hot rod conversions.
Beautiful! My favorite classic car.
I always had a soft spot for 40 Fords. Nice to see what change takes place 23 years later in that picture with the reflection of the 63 1/2 falcon, precursor to the 64 Mustang.
Nice picture!

My fist personally owned vehicle was a ‘40 Ford 2-door sedan. Paid $210 for it and seems like I spent that ea month keeping it running. The year was 1954, when I was an 18 yo HS senior.
Beautiful car. Nice work.

Great shots. And looking factory stock, the way I prefer classic cars.
Factory stock had those wheels?
Nice shots. Great looking classic.
The original factory paint would have been more muted and there would've been no clearcoat.
It was a major battle to keep the paint looking good and required frequent waxing.
Also back in that era, green automobile paints were notorious for rapid fading and chalking.
One of my elementary school teachers had a 1939 Plymouth.
