7 day return window (my only dig against them, otherwise none) - if in doubt till you test...make sure they agree to a longer window !!!

Buy a mini-pot or sample pot of black enamel, and touch it in, The camera has a rough body service - and that little mark will hide easily.

many thanks team - I appreciate all the advice and thoughts re this issue - I certainly feel I am being pedantic and normally stuff like this doesn't bother me but unfortunately in this case it does.

maybe expected the wording excellent would have been has new so maybe I am being too fussy .

MPB have been very professional and have taken on board my concern re ding/scratch so no doubt will resolve to my satisfaction

I agree with MDI Mainer on that scratch. Touch it up with a permanent marker and just use the camera.

It’s funny how brassing on a vintage film camera is viewed as patina while a scratch or two on a digital camera is unacceptable damage.

I found the Z6 body to be just a bit short. I only see the bottom when I change a battery. I card a spare card, battery, and small allen wrench in a case. Good way to cover any chips or scratches on the bottom of the camera.

Frankly, I'm not able to see the scratch so it must be very cosmetic. I evaluate things in ways of their "difference" meaning not how much the item costs...it's how much the difference between the two costs for I would be spending the lower cost item in the evaluation.

For example if a new camera were $2,000 and a slightly used one were $1800 it would be a $200 basis of evaluation. Thus, in this case would it be worth saving the $200 or not. The $1800 is not the issue for I would have to spend that much anyway...the $200 is the deciding issue.

That "wood" bottom plate gives a nice "vintage" look!!

In their "Help" section, MBP had detailed grading information:

Without a picture, small scratch doesn't mean much.
According to their rating system Excellent is not the top rating.
Like New is a higher rating.

Only the OP can decide whether or not to keep it.

I have bought excellent from MPB and there is always a little mark here and there. If you wanted better then you should have looked for β€œlike new”. If it bothers you that much send it back and buy a brand new one.

A top notch re-seller of camera gear, similar to KEH, Robert's UsedPhotoPro, B&H, Adorama/Hunt's/Samy's, etc. Having done some business with the first 5 and MPB.com, Hard to go wrong, easy to work with, usually min. 6 month warranty, returns/refunds policies vary, so read up on each vendors policies. Hope that helps.

Is it the white, out of focus, spot in the centre of the frame? You certainly can live with it, but think of camera's resale value. One day you will certainly want to sell it and buy a newer model. Potential buyers might not like it or will ask for substantial discount.

Technically, it appears that it meets their specs. It is a piece of used gear and it is not expected to be PERFECT. If you wanted it to be PERFECT or LIKE NEW, you should have spent the extra money to receive that level of perfection.

I do not expect perfection in anything I purchase, whether it is goods from a store or food in a restaurant, it was built or prepared by imperfect people, just like me. To expect perfection means you will always be disappointed with what you get in life. I was a manufacturing engineer in an electronics manufacturing plant and few if any items were perfect in all ways. All items left our plant met their specs, but that does not mean they were perfect in all respects.

But, you are the final judge. If that small scratch bothers you and will continue to make you unhappy with the purchase then by all means return it. But remember, the unit you get to replace it (even if new) may have problems that you cannot see.

Perfection is the enemy of good enough and the pursuit of perfection is endless and heartbreaking. At some point, you draw the line and take what you got.
