Thanks Photogirl17 (Lesley) for hosting another Free Weekend, a lot of nice photos there.
This challenge โFlat Lay Photographyโ is great for all kinds of things (small in nature) โ books, food, jewelry, collectibles, etc! The idea behind Flay Lay photography is simply taking a picture from straight up above with no angle at all. Which can be tricky. I get to use this when the wife wants a photo of designs from the embroidery machine.
Helpful Hints:
If you donโt have a good lighting set up always try to use available natural light. I have used 2 small table lamps with 65watt/5500 degree kelvin ledโs rated light bulbs when in a pinch.
Try to keep shadows down to a minimum, I believe harsh shadows are to distracting.
Always try to use complimentary colors for a background.
I decided to use some old School Books for this challenge.
An advance thank you to all who contributes to this challenge.

Very nice start, Bob. I have done very little of this at least I didn't know this is what it is called. I've tried to capture a shot of any jigsaw puzzles Dee has finish. I'm pretty sure her puzzles lay flat so should qualify as "flat lay". Meanwhile out in the shop I played with some.
