Why in days past a married couple on the throne were referred to as the King and Queen of England but now only the individual in the bloodline of past monarchs is crowned and the spouse is not Queen or King but of lesser rank as in Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip?
Things change, we (I) get used to it, and (I) accept.

We don't have many Queens, usually Kings. It may have something to do with a King being (historically) the recognised senior partner, so King and Queen is O.K., but Queen and King is not.
Hence Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Phillip.
Never really thought about it before but that's my twopenny worth. Anyway, it'll matter less going forward as the rules regarding ascension have been changed so that the first born to the monarch, whether girl or boy, will be the next holder of the title.
I believe the King always has to be in the bloodline. A woman who marries the King, or would be King, will be a Queen in the title. Doesn't fly the other way.

Not so, otherwise we wouldn't have Queen Elizabeth II as the current monarch.
In times past the oldest male would always ascend the throne, but the Queen has no brothers.
As I said before, this will not be the case going forward.
Her father was King...Bloodline?

George VI - 2 daughters, Queen Elizabeth (1926 - 20??) and Princess Margaret (1930 - 2002)
A question for the OP. Would it be constitutional possible for the U.S. to have a woman President? If so, and a woman did become President, would her husband be referred to as the First Man?

We have Vice-First Man...
There is a lot of infomation about this on the internet. All I gathered from it is that the newest rules say that a person can only take the title of King if he has inherited it. A man married to a Queen can be assigned a number of other titles.
The same seems to apply to a woman but if she is married to a King then she can be called Queen Consort. Sorry cannot be more help, it might be interesting to read about it on the net, personally I have little interest in it.

If it's First Lady, a man should be First Gentleman.

Yes, as there was only one first man, and his name was Adam!
