Thank you for very kind words Benjamin... and for your continued support!

"I have recently begun the practice of yoga..." a very wise move Benjamin (In my humble estimation)
I've had a daily Yoga practice for over three decades... And I feel it has greatly increased the quality of my life...

btw, Yoga is one of the oldest known healing arts... Actual recorded references go back 3000 years.
Yoga is an important adjunct to a ballerinas daily routine since it has been well documented to help them minimize physical trauma. I collaborate with dozens of gifted ballerinas and all deeply appreciate that I have a large hardwood floor area with floor to ceiling mirrors at one end so they can practice prior to their photo sessions. And four different color Yoga mats available... yes color matters... lol

If nothing else Yoga is absolutely wonderful in increasing range of motion... and Yoga deep breathing exercises can calm both the heart and soul. It is oft said that...

Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self…

All the best on your journey Benjamin

Jules you might consider attending an introductory Yoga class...
Yoga is decidedly NOT something to be learned "Self Taught".
Done incorrectly Yoga poses can be hazardous...
It's closely related to gymnastics to give you an idea of why training is essential...

Jules the good news is that you are never too old to start...
In fact many avid Yoga practitioners began their Yoga journey late in life...
You might be pleasantly surprised how quickly you can learn the basic routines (Sun Salutations)...

Just maybe save headstands for much later in your practice (if at all)

All the best on your journey Jules

Always have a deep appreciation of your work Thomas. This is just another fine example.
Now if you could just direct me to some lotion to sooth my aching muscles after looking at those exercises!

Both are greatly appreciated!

As for myalgia? To ease muscle pain due to overuse or injury, rest the body part and take acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Applying ice within the first 24 to 72 hours of an injury can reduce pain and inflammation. After than, heat can be more soothing. Muscle pain from overuse responds well to massage and gentle stretching exercises.

That said, one of the most common beliefs about Yoga is that one has to achieve and hold convoluted Yoga positions for extended periods... This is simply a myth... Your Yoga instructor would not likely have you do any movement that would cause discomfort let alone pain. This ancient healing art is learned gradually over many weeks, months and yes even years.

I can no longer do more advanced positions... Which is totally fine... the basic moves are more than enough for wonderful health benefits...

Again many thanks Don, all the best on your delightful journey...

Beautiful shots Thomas! My mother was into yoga and taught me the headstand as a youngster. Haven't done one in awhile due to a fragile shoulder (the kind 4-decade carpenters get) but it's coming back and I'll soon see if it's possible...hah.
Upside down is *very* therapeutic, so even if I can't do headstands, I can use my inversion table. A life and back saver for sure.

Thank you so much for your very kind words Charlie... They are truly appreciated...
You're a very lucky guy to have a Yogini mom, and the headstand is typically only mastered far into one's Yoga journey.

As you've discovered inversions are wonderfully therapeutic... We live in a gravity controlled environment thus many of our body parts are asymmetrically loaded... The spines vertebra are cushioned by semi-soft discs whose only reprieve is while we are horizontal a.k.a. sleeping. Inversions allow spinal fluids an opportunity to normalize.

That said inversions must be embraced slowly over time... They can increase cranial pressures dramatically (enough said) so slow and steady progress is mandated... Except for kids who seem to be virtually made out of rubber... lol

Sorry about your shoulder issues... The shoulder has the greatest mobility of all the bodies ball and socket joints and as such is subject to much "wear and tear". Have another carpenter colleague who had to lay down his hammer because of this. However when one door closes another tends to open...

FYI: Downward Facing Dog (as illustrated above) is another more "gentle" inversion that can (and does) yield wonderful benefits... Go slow with this at first and blend your knees until you develop enough range of motion to lock them out...

All the best on your journey Charlie
