Very nice looking car and images. Lots of room in that backseat, not like in cars today.

There was room between the front seat and the rear seat to install folding jump seats, which many taxicab companies, including my father's, did.

Not a car one typically sees in a show, but a real beauty. Very nicely captured in your four photos, KT.

When I was born, my family had a 1946 version. It wasn’t a pretty blue like this one. When I was two years old, my brother and I were in the back seat one night while we were on Highway 90 (now IH-10) when I must have been fiddling with the door handle. The door caught the wind and flung me out at around 55 mph. Frightful night for my family who had to come back looking for me. They found me in the ditch, crying for a bandaid.

Similarly, I was in the back seat of my grandfather's DeSoto and, while fiddling with the handle, the door swung open at speed but thankfully my grandmother grabbed onto me and held on. She then scolded my poor grandfather despite the fact that it was hardly his fault. Loved my grandmother--my brother and I could do no harm. We were perfect little angels in her sight.

Many cars in that era had suicide doors. I wish they had none. As a child I succeeded in opening a car's back suicide door and made a quick exit from the vehicle. Fortunately we were not traveling very fast, maybe 15 mph or less and my injuries were minor and without lasting effects, other than learning and remembering to not open the door of a moving vehicle.

EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very cool. Looks like the Cunningham’s car on “Happy Days”.

Great photos - those were the days when automobiles were something special. The hood ornaments were like the icing on the cake.

I had one just like this except black. Did you have the push button radio and fluid drive?

My '48 Dodge had both. There were tiny tuning knobs under the push buttons, and you pulled the covers off to access them.
