I have cleared out a friends camera gear for his widow. Before I post for sale I have a question. I am a Nikon user and have a D500 and Z6. Have lens w exception of Z6 which I have adapter for my other lens to use on it.
After reading on here about a Sony 7ii and various Sony FE lens I am considering buying the gear myself. I’ve read how lightweight all the gear is and how good the pictures are. I just am hesitant to get another camera. My husband would not be happy about a 5th camera body and more lens either. BUT my $$ so not an issue.
Can I get input on this mirrorless vs the Z6? I have available 4 Sony E lens for the camera, which is more than I have for the Z6. I would then sell the Z6.
I appreciate your comments.

I have no knowledge of the Z6, only the a7ii. The camera body of the a7ii is light, but the good glass is generally heavy. It sucks the life out of batteries. It was a great camera when introduced and still is if you don't compare it to newer models.

It is a great camera! All glass is heavy. The battery life can be enhanced thru in Camera settings.

Yes, you can extend batterie life with a few strings, but only minimally.
I too have an a7II. If I had it to do over again, I'd have the a7III or later due to improvements Sony make to the battery life and the silent shutter. The images are great, the Sony size is great. As noted above, as a full-frame camera with full-frame lenses, the combined Sony weight in a smaller overall package is essentially the same weight as my physically larger FF DSLR.
The a7II is a 24MP mirrorless camera, just like your Z6. Both the Sony and Z6 are IBIS-enabled.
You might take a closer look at your Nikon F-mount lenses and see what you should be selling from that inventory, combined with what you'd spend creating a parallel Sony system, and find the mirrorless Nikon lenses to build-out the Z6 mirrorless full-frame platform.

Based on this post and your post yesterday, it seems you have a win/win situation. You can test all the Sony gear for your friend at your own schedule, while deciding if you like it as well or better than the Nikon you already own. I would suggest that you spend a little money for the Friedman guide to the A7ll book, so that you can learn the logic to the Sony system while you are testing it. You could also buy the equipment from your friend and then if you decide not to keep it, sell it piecemeal on UHH for a small profit. Or, take it on consignment, meaning as you sell it or keep it, you pay for the pieces that have been decided upon. Like I said, you are doing a good dead, so make it a win-win situation!

Thank you. Great advice. I will go on now and get the book for the Sony.

IMO, NEITHER the Z6 or A7II are anything to brag about vs current/later models. As a practical matter not much difference between the two except lenses - availability and costs. So, I would carefully balance what kind of shooting you mostly do with the lens availability you have or may want in each mount - both for now and in the future - and go from there.
.
I agree with all the suggestions.
There's an inexpensive work-around for the battery issue. I'll try to post it a bit later after I get some pics of it.
Yes the Sony A7ii is bad on battery depletion. Would like to hear any suggestions.
