We all know that ink is the most expensive part of printing. Third party ink can be up to 70% less expensive. That could be ideal for everyday, non-critical, printing.
If you have been seduced by cheap 3rd party ink prices how satisfied were you in terms of color fidelity, print quality, fade resistance, long term printer reaction, or anything other not mentioned here?

Speaking specifically of refilling "Eco Tanks", since there will be residual amounts of proprietary ink left in the tank what is your experience with this initial mixing of ink?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Many "Tanks", (pun intended)

My eco tanks on my Epson ET-2750 last a very long time, and are not very expensive. I use to buy 3rd party ink with my other printers, like the Canon MP480. This one I simply bought refills directly from Epson, the cost was not even a factor. They didn't give me the printer though, I had to pay for the thing...

If you are making a lot of prints, I can see why you would want to control ink costs. In my case, I print a few 13" x 19" prints and a few 8 1/2" x 11"/ month to hang on my home gallery walls. Sometimes I make a few prints for my family. It is not worth my time and effort to play with 3rd party inks, especially after hearing some of the difficulties others have had with 3rd party inks.

The H P company has the answer. Their ink program cannot be beat, cheap reliable, flexible and dependable.

Like Big Daddy, I buy Epson ink from Epson with free shipping. The difference in price is not enough to motivate me to use "off-brand" inks.
Just my opinion and not tested because it is not worth the time, money, and risk.

I use only Canon ink in my Canon Pro-100, and never had a problem. However, I have used 3rd party ink in my little "Brother" office printer. Just recently that printer simply quit. After replacing the 3rd party cartridge's with Brother cartridge's the printer works fine.

I've printed over 3,000 pages with my Epson ET-2760, and I have 3/4 of the ink remaining.

Been using Precision Color for years. If you print high quality photos with Cannon or Epson professional style printers or a few of the lower models they are the place to go. Limited support for printer models. Concentrate on high quality photo printing.

The only thing I found that uses noticeable ink is doing a "deep cleaning". Epson warns that this procedure uses a lot of ink, and they are NOT lying. I've had to do 3 "deep cleanings" and you can physically watch the ink levels drop. I don't know how much I printed, but I'd guess more than half my ink usage was with deep cleaning.

I guess that's my major complaint with this printer. My other complaint is the printer and the software have a million settings, and they are not particularly intuitive [to me] and the printer settings and software settings don't seem to get along very well. An example is paper size. I set the paper size correctly on the printer and in the software, and the printer gives me a warning that the paper sizes don't match, continue or change? It can be very irksome, to say the least.

I will admit that at my age, my brain is not as flexible, retentive or teachable that it once was, so I'll accept some of the blame, but not all of it for sure.

The cost of ink for eco tanks is so low that there is no need to purchase ink from third party suppliers.

You'd think they could come up with a better cleaning method.

I've been playing with after-market inks for years. I have two epson printers; an R3000 and a P800. The brand I use is Ink Owl but Precision Color I've heard good things about, too. The R3000 is the printer I use these inks with, the P800 is more difficult to set up and I just may stay with the Epson products. Never had a clog. <shrug> Output is not that taxing, but I'm gearing up for more production if necessary. Difference between the inks? I honestly can't tell...

I've just recently tried Ink Owl. Have not printed many photos but the few I did were fine. Who knows about longevity. I do have a complaint about the cartridges though. Each one leaks all over the place when I 1st open them, like REALLY badly. The regular Canon cartridges NEVER did this. I did complain to Ink Owl & they sent me new cartridges which do the same thing. Might try Precision Color in the future.
