I have the D7100 and D7200. Both are excellent cameras but the edge goes to the D7200 for the larger buffer.

In addition to the other good sources of used cameras, you might check UHH classifieds - member buy and sell section.

UHHers, I'm hoping to sell/close on a piece of property in July. I plan to beg my wife to let me spend some money for a new camera. My old Nikon D80 crapped out a few months ago. ERR message that wont go away.
I have five lenses and three batteries for the D80 plus other gizmos including a flash. My question is, what do I buy on a limited budget to replace the D80? I wouldn't mind buying a used camera from a reliable source if it would get me a more up-to-date model.
Thanks.

D90. Excellent older camera does a great job. Very inexpensive. Mpb has them with six month warranty. You can use your lenses from the D80 along with your flash. Same battery and SD cards. I have and enjoy both the D80 and D90. Very similar but the D90 has more features.

My guess is that you don’t shoot much to have still d80. If you don’t shoot much I would go with the 7200/7500. The 500 is a better body vs the 7200,7500. Myself I got the 810 used with a shutter count of about 6500. The 810 is a pro body FF-full frame and lenses work way better with this body vs 7100. My 100mm tokina is terrible on the 7100 but on the 810 not a problem.
The last time I used d90 I realize that I would zoom in to see if pics is sharp- with newer body you don’t have this issue anymore.

Stop begging, and buy a more advanced body....To hell with the cost!!

Agree! Ask for forgiveness after the fact. Always works for me. In fact, I lube the wheel by buying the little woman a piece of bling just before I pull the trigger on a new camera. Keep peace in the valley. :)

I'm sure if the "little woman" reads UHH and sees herself referred to as "the little woman", the price of bling may escalate !!

If you shoot wildlife the 500 is the best--the 7200 has better dynamic range. The FF makes everything more expensive. Stay with a crop and you be more flexible and able to do a myriad of things

Several years ago I replaced my D80 with a D610. I know they don’t make this camera anymore but it has served me well and works flawlessly with all of the lenses I have accumulated over the years (even my old manual focus Nikkors).

Did you run into problems with DX lenses from your previous camera for your new full frame?

No I did not because I sold the only DX lens I owned with the D80. I also did not have any trouble wit all of my other lenses because they were previously used on the Nikon film SLR’s I owned.

I would choose a Z50 with the FTZ. The kit lenses are very good.
