I am planning to buy a Nikon D6. Is there any rumors floating around about a Nikon D7 being announced in the next 7 or more months? The last time I purchased a Nikon D4s, the D5 came out a couple weeks after I received my D4s.
The d6 is still quite recent. There has been a development announcement/tease concerning a flagship mirrorless model. Any dslr replacement at that level would be a couple of years out, if ever.

With Nikon going retro, yes, it likely will happen as a mirrorless that looks like a Nikon F camera.
Just a thought.
There won't be another Nikon DSLR. If you want the D6, that is your choice.

Rest assured that there won't be a D7. #6 is last just like the F6.

I believe the F6 is their last professional film camera and the same may probably be said of the D6.
There are rumors that they will announce two DSLR cameras this year with one being an upgrade for the D850.
However, Nikon has also announced the development of the Z9 as the flagship of their mirrorless line. It will undoubtedly be their next "pro" camera. It is expected it will be in the hands of pros for the Tokyo Olympics.
If you are committed to the D6 I don't think there will be anything coming along that will make you regret your decision to buy it...at least with respect to DSLRs.

If you are the type that are afraid of new model would come out after you bought the greatest and latest camera then afraid no more. The D6 is definitely the last of Nikon DSLR.
Who cares?
If you like the D6, go for it!

If the camera does what you need it to, ....do you need any more?

I have a D5 and thought about upgrading to the D6. After careful review of the specifications, D5 to D6, I could not justify spending $3,500.00 plus my camera for the D6. The D6 is a great camera and if I did not own the D5, I would buy one.

Is it possible that Nikon will release another DSLR, yes absolutely. Is it likely, I don't think so. The Z9 has already been announced as the next "PRO" body. Will the D850 be replaced or by a DSLR or a mirrorless, only Nikon knows!
It's barely a year old, so don't expect a replacement any time soon, especially with Nikon putting efforts into mirrorless.
I'd hold off until they release the D8. Rumor has it that they are already developing this camera.

Other than a significant price drop and availability of used and refurbs when the pro level Z comes out.
