So you can't use the camera while the battery charges

That’s nothing new. With the Z7 you already couldn’t use the camera while charging. The Z7II allows powering the camera by USB, not just charging. As for what’s no longer included it’s the wall charger that allows charging in camera. You can still charge in camera with the USB-C cable. Charging using the regular battery wall charger is much faster than charging in camera.

read above, you still get a charger folks.

The point was that floor mats are minor and insignificant compared to a front seat. just like a USB-C charger that 99.5% of people never use. Probably never even take out of the shrink wrap.

There are cars/trucks being shipped without all the wizardtry, and often can not be retrofitted for similar reasons. Vehicles work fine, but may not fuel control system or auto-bracking, etc.

Isn’t it only a wire to charge in camera?

No, the MH-25a appears to be a charger for the battery, external to the camera...

The EH-7P (which the OP referenced) appears to be only a standard USB-type charger. The camera connection is the now-standard USB-C, so you can use any widely-available cable and USB power 'brick' as a substitute...

Actually it’s more likely so they can continue shipping cameras. It wouldn’t serve them well to have a backlog of orders because they can’t get the chips for the charger.

So, you think when the units are available they'll ship one to the customers who didn't get one in their purchase?

As mentioned above you will still get a charger. You won't get the charger that charges the battery in camera. No big deal for me, since when a battery gets low I put a fully charged battery in the camera and the low battery goes into the charger.

NikonUSA shows an MH-25a included. That's the charger that comes with many Nikon DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras.

Nikon will no longer include USB-C charger with its Z7, Z7 II mirrorless camera systems

Nikon Japan says the omission of the EH-7P charger is due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage.

This is according to DPRieview

Did you read the whole article ? The z7 ships with the regular battery charge just not the additional Usb charger .so you do get a charger but it is a 120 V charger only .

You are assuming the issue is the charger. It could be it was a chip in the camera that communicated with the charger that is in short supply..

Charging the camera directly can be risky. You can fry the main board.

...I dunno, *I* have a couple of dedicated usb chargers around the house for my various devices (and an extra for travel). The ones I use have 5 usb ports and charge items very quickly (in comparison to the 5v computer connection). In fact, using one of my usb to usb C cables (of which I have many...if you look around you do, too) I charged my Z50 the other day...if anything just to see if it worked. It did...probably the last time I'll do that rather than grab a fresh battery and change it out. As usual, much ado about nothing but these threads are great entertainment!

USB-C chargers are pretty universal. They are becoming as ubiquitous as the little 5-Volt Apple iPhone chargers have been for the past 14 years. Nearly everyone with any tech gear has, or will have one soon, as they buy a new smartphone that probably does not come with one, either. Most new laptops come with USB-C chargers, too, so connecting one to a Z7 series to charge the battery should be no big deal.

I believe I am correct in saying you can use the USB to charge the Z7 II, but not the Z7. I had both cameras, but sold the Z7 and Z6, now I just have the Z7 II and Z6 II.
