Seeking IPad experience

My PowerBook died the day before leaving to shoot a 3 day event. Luckily I have a Dell laptop to get by while repairs are done.
Am curious about real life experiences using an iPad and Lightroom
How do you import images?
Can you store images on external drive?
Can you migrate catalog to a PowerBook and open in Lightroom Classic?
What are the serious limitations?

Would not be my normal operating mode but looking for a Plan B

I store photos in iCloud. When I upload images to my iPad they are automatically sent to my iCloud account when wifi is available.

I upload my images to my MacBook Air and LR (cloud based). I use my IPad for many photo edits and sharing. Once the images are in LR, it is easy to locate them on my IPad, export those I wish to my image library on the IPad and do what I need to with them.

You can also get a card reader for the IPad and transfer images to LR from SD card directly to IPad, depending on how much storage you have on your Ipad.

I am an amateur photographer and this fits my needs perfectly.

I have the 1Tb Lightroom plan. I upload images from my SD card directly to the Adobe cloud via my iPad. My CF Express reader worked well with my iPad when I was shooting Canon. I prefer editing with my Apple Pencil on my iPad vs using my TrackPad or mouse. So much more control. When I choose to do so, I simply transfer images to my external drive. The mobility of the iPad is great.

I use iPads, with my Sony a6000 & a7III. I load photos into the iPad through an SD Card reader, which is fast and easy. There I use Affinity, and Light Room then shoot off too a client, or transfer to an external SSD devise. Once home I am able to download to my Laptop and edit further if need. Easy. No where as complicated as some believe, at least not for me.
