I am planning to visit Idaho in July for vacation. Never been there. Anyone have any photography suggestions? Best places to photograph without hiking miles into the wilderness.

May I ask what part of Idaho? It is a pretty big state with lots to see and do. Each area has a lot to offer but we don't know where in Idaho you might be located for us to offer suggestions.

Will be there about a week with time spent in the sawtooths mountains, and southern part of the state. Not going up in the northern part by Spokane, Washington.

You might check out Twin Falls and the light show at night. I have not been there yet but am hoping to go in a couple of weeks. You might also check out, Craters of the Moon. Again, I am planning on going there myself in a couple of weeks to check it out.

If you check online for cities or areas you plan to be near there should be a wealth of information available.

In the southern part (wife is from Jerome), of course there is the Snake river canyon - you can take raft rides down the Snake river and get lots of great pictures. Also, you'll want to check out Shoshone Falls. A little further northeast is Craters of the Moon National Monument - a very surreal lava flow area.

Caution -- shoshone falls dries to a trickle seasonally due to irrigation loads. Check ahead of time.

I hear they're big on potatoes. Maybe you can get some good shots of them.

Seriously -

If you are on US15 near Utah border DO NOT miss Lava Hot Springs. A family destination. Google it.

I moved here just over a year ago and go somplace new every week. I'm never without a new place to explore. Some recomendations: Mesa Falls, Craters of the Moon, Shoshone Falls, City of Rocks, Little City of Rocks, Malad Gorge, Niagra Springs, Sawtooths and the list goes on.

Go a little further south and into Utah to see Promontory Point where the Golden spike was driven. And the rocket garden at Northrup (used to be Thiokol) definitely has photo worth exhibits.
As a young man I used to deer hunt in the Saw Tooths, beautiful area. Got lost once and ended up in the city of rocks.
