Look great to me too, QD. Probably not worth the trip back into the house.

Thank you! Just fooling around with cameras! A near lifelong pursuit.

Mixed cloud and sun. Went out to get a couple of "record" shots of the garden at my Wife's request. D3 with AF S Nikkor 24-85 1:3.5 4.5 G. Just out of curiosity took a couple of photos I'd normally do with the macro. No surprise, it is what I did before I had the 105. What do you think? Maybe a skosh less sharp.

I agree that upclose, pixel snoopers might see a difference, the macro lens cannot capture the rest of the story. Great set thanx for sharing!

What part of Montana? I was all over most of eastern Montana as a landman in the oil business - beautiful state and great people, but I haven't seen much of the western part, unfortunately.

North East of Billings, 75 miles out, south of the Musselshell.

Thanks - another part I haven't seen much of. I passed through there once going to Billings from points north and remember it being a pretty area. Very nice pics, by the way, they look tack-sharp in DD.

love the scenery, and great comps, very nice.
I have found my 100mm macro to not have the detail, or resolution when used to anything but macro.
Perhaps someone here knows why ?

Thanks for the post :)

There is an awful lot of nice country to see in Montana, I sure haven't been through it all. Thanks, in re: sharp, the D3 and a good lens will handle most things, but the old 105 macro is amazing on the D810. The more a piece of equipment will deliver, the more you come to expect.

Thanks for looking - I have no idea what your issue might be. I would start an individual thread with questions and sample downloads. Lots of horsepower here, you will get good advice!
