Reminds me of the time I went to my local Harley dealer to get an oil line for my 79 Low Rider and came out with a 84 FLH Dresser

Yesterday I was up in Manchester (NH) and took the opportunity to go into Hunt Photo to buy some PhotoFlo because I have a wayward roll of film from my Bronica to develop. I bought that along with a couple of plastic bottles. Then I looked at cameras.

45 minutes later and some $2600+ later I walked out.

With: A Nikon Z6 kit (with the 24-70 f/4 lens), an FTZ adapter ($99.95 if bought with the camera), a CFexpress card of some 128 gigabytes, a reader for the card, a polarizing filter, and an extended 3 year warranty against everything including loss and damage and destruction. The Z6 is currently on a Nikon-wide sale.

GAS attack has been assuaged. The menu and button structure is somewhat different from my D7100 but close enough that intuition and judicious use of the manual will get me through. And ergonomically, it is a joy to hold and to use.

Congrats Dr Mike! Will be interesting to hear your review compared to the D7100 after some trials with the new equipment.

Congrats and enjoy. What Nikon lenses do you already own?

Most of my lenses are DX so will work fine on the D7100 but not on the Z6 with adapter or on my film Nikons (F6 and FE). My "modern" FF DSLR lenses are the 85mm f/1.8 and the 50 mm f/1.8. I also have several legacy AI or AIS lenses but I haven't checked the compatibility chart for them yet. My 35mm f/2.8 perspective control lens will NOT work on the Z6. I think the Z 24-70 covers most of what I want and I can go manual with my longer legacy lenses and just work slowly. After all that expenditure I am not up for a Z telephoto zoom yet. Maybe next year.

I gave my D5000 and 2 DX lenses to one of my sons for his birthday today. I haven't used it since I got the 7100 some years ago. Amazingly the battery charged up. I gave him the 55-200 and a Tamron 17-50 mm to get him started. I don't plan on selling the D7100 and will hold on to all of my film cameras either to use or to display.

Just jealous that you have good camera stores! I tend to buy from B&H without ever actually touching anything before I buy it. The R6 and lenses turned out good anyway.

Get in touch with Nikon customer service. To see about exchanging the Z6 for the Z611 Right away as soon as possible a little bit more you would have to pay it’s worth it by a lot

I checked out the prices before I bought the Z6 and the difference was more than I could manage.

GAS carries on To complement my ‘kit lens’. I have subsequently added the 14-30, the 85 1.8 and will soon add the 105 macro.
