I agree: A longer lens is better for panoramas having a narrower taking angle.

I beg to differ. The rows of vines are straight. They appear curved because the vines at either side of the pano are farther away from you than the rows in the center. The process of stitching together several pix forces the application you're using to bend the rows, hence the curves. (But, you are right, it's not the result of "lens distortion.")
