The 70-200 Nikor would be my 2nd choice after the very useful 24-70,2.8. The 60 & 100 Micros in Nikon are excellent. I don’t think you’ll like the 200Micro. I have one and it’s cumbersome. I’ve used a D-850 since it first came out. A wonderful camera. Always stick with Nikon glass.

I found OEM lenses lacked what I need, OIS primes. “Always stick with Nikon lenses” ? Stick and get stuck :-(

FWIW, OIS prime-wise, sticking with OEM where possible, I wound up with 1 Nikkor, 2 Canons, 1 Sigma, and 3 Tamrons. IOW, Nikon was barely in the running.

I know this will be a rabbit hole tangent, but what exactly do you mean by "artificial?" Is that as opposed to "natural?" I don't think there's anything natural about photography, neither with my D850 nor with my old Leice IIIf. Forgive me, but I just don't get it and would appreciate your assistance.

By “imitation” I mean as opposed to something tangible, like a negative or transparency that can be held in the hand or viewed on the lightbox. Viewing digital images on the computer, there‘s no way of knowing if they were done by a competent photographer or a competent photoshopper. There‘s a definite difference between the two, no matter how much some may pretend otherwise.

My go-to prime lens is the 24-120mm f/1.4.

Did you mean f/1.4 or f/4? I cannot find the f/1.4 either on the Nikonusa website or on Amazon, or on the web in general. Thanks.

Meh. Just proudly limited practitioners.

Dedicated non users of editing apps are not really competent photographers. Possibly competent camera operators.

From what little I know about film development, many of the tools in digital processing have an analog analogue 😀

Very true. And now it’s faster, cheaper, and superior. Not that scissors-and-glue imagery doesn’t have a special charm completely uniquely its own ....
