Try getting a Datacolor - Spyder X Pro
It will get your monitor to show you what will be printed.

Go to Cambridge Color website. They have all the information you need. Sorry I don't have the link
I also have that printer, and along with making sure that you calibrate your monitor (I have the Spider X, but I am not a fan of it) ... I have found that most good quality paper give me very similar results, but if the color match is extremely important I would use Canon paper and make sure that you match that paper's profile, and finally use Canon ink, not third party ink... yes it is at least 50% more expensive but the quality control is far better, and NEVER mix ink from different suppliers... Yes this may sound like I am pushing Canon products, but I would be saying the Exact same thing using Epson products if you had an Epson printer.
Muddy, and especially magenta, is frequently the sign of double profiling. OP needs to get the basic setup correct before pursuing monitor calibration.

Or get a new printer. I have a Canon Pro 100 (NOT Pix) and it makes excellent prints. I just powered it up and started printing with what I consider to be really good results. I started in photography in the 1960s, printing by the '80s with Epson, changed to a Pro 100 sometime earlier this century. Love that Pro 100! I just print 'em with no other action and no problems! My prints look just like what I see on my screen and all I do is just hit that print button.

Sounds like you might be printing a CMYK file. A CMYK file can produce some weird results if the printer is expecting sRGB or Adobe RGB, etc.
All of the above advise is good but why not start with the basic stuff. Print a test page and compare the output with your screen, do they look the same? if not run the diagnostics cleaner apps and try again.

I had a similar problem with Pixma 100. I spoke to a very helpful guy at Canon. He recommended I use Canons Print Studio Pro. It worked like a charm!
Thanks for the advice called canon they checked it out had the wrong paper setting all good thanks
