I believe the weather, and the way you captured it, was your friend. These are well done!

IMO, these beautiful/powerful photos wouldnโ€™t be as interesting had you had fair shies. The clouds add drama.

I was at the Grand Canyon in April for a couple of days. I was hoping for fair skies, but nature had another idea. As it turned out, it snowed overnight which left a light dusting in the canyon on the second day. The morning sky looked turbulent and what follows are the results. I was mostly pleased at the results. I will post some panoramas later.

Beautiful images Dan

Actually there are lots of bad days to photograph the Grand Canyon having done so on at least a half dozen different occasions. Noon on a cloudless day is one. What you want are unusual conditions, atmosphere, and not overhead sun.

You have captured it well during a good time and it shows. Kudos.

Newsguygeorge speaks truth! While are crystalline blue skies are beautiful, sometimes seeing dramatic clouds can be a plus, especially when the sun breaks through a bit!

Your results stand out from so many others, Dan.
You have got a super condition for photography. Congratulations!
Would you reveal the specs - camera, lens and whether you used a tripod?
Cheers!

I like the stormy look, much more interesting than straight blue skies.

Hard to capture the beauty and grandeur of that canyon but you've done it and done it well!
