Saw a Swallowtail and decided to use the big gun - D7200 AF S Nikkor 200-500 1:5.6 E ED with TC1.4 E II. The results surprised me. I was working at the minimum distance that would focus, hand held. A very large near Macro!

Nice shots!
I don't have a macro lens and use a telephoto lens for bugs. 70-300 typically since I can get close enough.

👍👍 I use my long lens for such shots - I've tried using my 105 macro but the butterflies and bees usually don't allow me to get that close.
