Another from the same shoot as the gunman I posted yesterday. This is another very well turned-out re-enactor - got to hand it to them, they do put the effort in. I have added the sunbeams and sparkles. Any critique appreciated.

Excellent setup again--enjoyed. A an old horse person, I can see that he has been shod.

Yes, he could be John - ‘ostler’ is the term I think? He didn’t say what he intended the outfit to portray and, as we were at a Victorian pumping station, I took him to be the foreman, but your interpretation suits him better. Now you’ve got me wondering if I’ve got a horse image to composite with him!

After he is finished drinking does he get up and do a song and dance? Looks like he has taps on his shoes.

I imagine they’re not too easy to walk on with all that metalwork - didn’t see any dancing!

magnetoman, this, and the one you posted yesterday, are fantastic bits of work. I love the color, texture, lighting, and mood each portrayed. One would almost think these were studio, even if on location, sets specifically done up for the photographs.

Thanks Bob, appreciate that from you - they’re certainly not studio though. I’ve visited the pumping station many times and know my way round it well, as do most of the models/reenactors. On this shoot there were just nine of us to seven subjects, so much easier than our normal twenty or thirty togs! The models are good in that they continuously offer suggestions as to location and pose, so Ralph popped outside, sat himself down against the door and produced the bottle to complete the scene. There were just two of us shooting him at the time - most were engaged with the fashion model! The organisers do help with basic lighting if needed but there was none with this shot. Quite a bit of pp though.

An interesting shot. I'm always reluctant to shoot people in the city who are down on their luck. I always feel like I'm taking advantage of their misfortune for my benefit. Here, though, we have the story of a well dressed fellow who has obviously become a victim to his condition. The story is the same but you don't have to do it at someone's expense. Of course the sparkles and the rays add to the photo if not necessarily to the story. Well seen and well executed.
