Sony make a veritable herd of pocket cameras. Most have time lags writing to the card. Going back to film? Olympus has a bunch in the XA catalog. Speaking of which, their “tough camera” range are pocketable and not bad. Nikon has a couple too. Tiny cameras, mostly. Nice thing about the TG cameras is they are rugged and do “macro” images almost right up to the lens.

Please reread post before being snarky, she said $350.ish ?.
Do you know what "?" means. I believe she is open to higher or lower prices if it fits with what she is looking for.
Do you know what "ish" means, I believe she again is open to alternatives.
And lastly, I was only being helpful trying to point her in the right direction. You have become very mean lately.
Have a great day, I will.

I appreciate the response. Even if it doesn't answer the OP's question exactly, I like to know which cameras have really been tested in discerning hands. Thanks for the Sony, (and Cannon) recommendations. I have a Panasonic DMC-TS3 that I just love. They might not be made anymore but are still available in places. In addition to other qualities, they are waterproof and great for snorkeling.

My camera of choice is the Cannon Powershot ELPH 360, about $200. It is true point and shoot (no viewfinder), but even in the sun you can find the horizon on the display. Just aim it at what you want to shoot and press the button. If you take a lot of pictures with it at one event, spare batteries are essential. And you must remove them to recharge them.

I divested myself of my DSLR cameras and lenses and rely now solely on small cameras for portability. I have the Canon G9X II, Canon G15, Lumix ZS50, Lumix ZS19 and the Canon Elph 330 hs. The Elph 330 is always with me as I keep it in the car and love it for its 10X zoom and outstanding pics with great color, sharpness and image quality in general. I think the Elph 330 is the king of the Canon Elph cameras and is better than it's successors. Love my Canon G9X II for it's 1" sensor, touch screen and small size (fits in a shirt pocket). The Lumix ZS50 is wonderful for it's extended zoom (30X) , small size and optical viewer for those bright sunny days.

I agree. Sounded pretty callous, if you ask me.
