Peak Design Camera Strap--A Problem

I have a Peak Design Camera strap attached to a Z6ii. According to the video I watched from PD, I have one end of the strap attached to the connector on the tripod connection, and the other end attached to the ring on the grip side of the camera. The camera is supposed to hang with the lens pointed down, and the slide is supposed to easily allow for landscape and portrait photos. Once in a while, this works as it should. However, most of the time the lens does not point down. And, more importantly, when I slide the camera up to my eye to take a photo in portrait mode, the straps twist with the one on the grip side blocking the rear screen. (I hold the camera, as just about everyone does, with my right hand--the grip hand, on top and my left hand on bottom. If I reverse this and in portrait mode and place my left hand--non grip hand on top, no problem. However, it is almost impossible to shoot in this manner.) Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how to correct this problem? I have tried the strap connection on the non-grip side and that does not work either.
Thanks.

My next step if someone can’t help resolve the problem. Thanks.

Curious why contacting manufacturer wouldn't be your first step?

Here is their contact info.

I use the peak slide and dont have that problem. I use the left hand ring, from the rear, and the tripod mount. This ensures no strap interfering with the shutter button or blocking any views. I also use portrait mode and again no interference from the strap.

Your problem is you have connected the strap to the grip side. Put it on the other side and it hangs just right.

I am Steven G also. I use the left hand ring, from the rear, and the tripod mount. This ensures no strap interfering with the shutter button or blocking any views. My favorite strap.

I use the Peak slide with the two normal strap rings and have no problem with it at all.

That’s correct, put it on the other side.
