Those of you who have owned both, what is your feeling? I'm not asking for the all specification differences. . . That is available anywhere and everywhere.
I'm asking for your professional subjective impressions gleaned from living with and working with these two Pro cameras.
Crabs and curmudgeons need not reply.
Thanks

You forgot to exclude Geezers and Codgers - you might have a problem!
That leaves me out. I have never owned either, anyway.
Have you seen Steve's review of the new D6? Wow!!

I have not owned either one, but have had the use of both quite a bit and don’t see much difference between them. I find both to be excellent for hand holding, inconvenient for most of my tripods and bellows.

Yes, I have owned both. Both are good in low light. But, for all around performance, the D5 wins. But for still and flash photography, the D3s does just fine, it would make an excellent wedding camera. For sports, the D3s just cannot compete, it also does not have Group Auto Focus and other advanced focusing systems, in fact, the D5 has a separate focusing system that the D3s does not have. This separate system is also in the D500 and D850.
So, both are great for what they are good for.
I just purchased a d3s and have a D5oo. No D5. All I can say is the low light abilities of the D3s is heads above the D5oo but the D5oo focus system is heads above the D3s. If you are shooting moving objects I would go with the D5 hands down. Same for me. When I need low light basically still objects the D3s is king. If it's moving almost at all the D5oo is king. Sorry about not owning a D5. Then I could only have 1 camera. Lol
I have the D3s and D4s D850 and D500. When I go out the door and need a camera I have no problem picking up the D3s out of the choices I have
I'm sorry but I guess I'm just old fashion, I've owned both including the D3, D4s, D5 and am now in Z6ii and 7ii. I loved them all, they were all King on it's time but just like Rabbit ears on my TV before and 4K images dancing all around now that's just a before and now. By the way, I also owned a F3 for more than 6 years and never looked anywhere, those were the days. I stepped back and also purchased a D3s while owning a D4s just because it's just a great beautiful camera and I too really enjoyed using it. But life goes on and so does technology, What can I say?
My two cents for whatever it's worth.......................Bill

So I gather you recommend the Zs over the D3? Although you like the D3 a lot.
My two cents on my D3s and Des over my 500 and 850. I can load pictures on my computer and share them on email easily since files are smaller. My go to camera for family parties or outings and even some weddings where im not doing the jobs and family all wants me to send them pictures. Quick and easy
