I know more than the lens was involved! Very good set. I really enjoy the old lenses.

I came across a Kodak Gear 80-210mm lens that was just to cheap to pass by.

Here is a few images taken with it. What do you think ?

Camera: Canon SL2
Lens: Kodak Gear 80-210mm

That was quite a buy.

I was going to guess it might have been made by Cosina or Kiron who made a bunch of decent quality lenses for Vivitar back in the day. Vivitar would do the design work for their lenses and then farm out the manufacture.

But I see another poster apparently correctly identified the manufacturer as Tamron.

Nicely done!

Man, I've passed on at least three of their lenses in thrift stores. Cheap, too. Maybe I shouldn't have. Doh!

Thanks for looking. Maybe this will easy the fear many have because something is cheap it means it is crap. I have seen more expensive lens, that are way newer, that are indeed crap. Next time you see one in a thrift store, maybe pick it up and give it a try.

It has been already mentioned but I will mention it once more, the lens was made by Tamron for several brands. At the price you bought it is a great deal.
In general if we do our part all lenses do their part and consider that if the "sweet spot" usually 3 stops closed from maximum lens opening is selected the images tend to be at their best.

All images look nice to my eyes and I particularly like the first one.
You got a great deal. Enjoy your new lens.
