Thoroughly enjoyed your series of Florence. I've been fortunate to have been there once and of all the places I've been, Florence gave me a feeling like no other. If someone told me that I had to spend the rest of my life there my reply would be, "When is the first flight out?" Thank you for wonderful memories of a place in time.

My first time in Florence - 1972 - I used a Nikkormat with either Ektachrome or possibly Agfa film. My second visit was about 8 years ago and I had a digital Lumix bridge camera. I don't know if I will get there a third time to use my current camera, a Fujifilm X-T200. I plan to do more traveling, but there are still lots of places that I have not visited.

BTW: I really loved my Nikkormat. I moved to a Pentax Super Program (still have it), but my Nikkormat served me well - took wonderful pictures.

Florence, Italy – Part 3, 2006

I visited Florence, Italy thrice – once in 1978 on a coach tour from my assignment at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, again in 2003 with my church choir, and a 3rd time in 2006 with a secular chorus I sang with. I took photographs all 3 times: in 1978 probably with a Nikkormat FT camera on Ektachrome film; in 2003 with a combination of Nikon FE and Nikon N70 cameras; and in 2006 with a Nikon D7000 digital camera. In 2003 I know I used ASA 400 film in the N70 and ASA 800 film in the FE (mostly for indoor shots). This set will use photos from all 3 visits. Minimal PP is involved, as I’d not yet come to use Lightroom. Panoramas were executed using Autostitch.

Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany region of Italy, and was a center of medieval European trand and finance, making it one of the wealthiest cities of that era. Many consider it to have been the birthplace of the Renaissance, and called “the Athens of the Middle Ages”. It was once ruled by the powerful Medici family. The language spoken there ultimately became the standard for Italian throughout the country. The entire World looks to Florance for fashion.

Outstanding series! My wife and I were there in 2019 and loved it.
We stayed 2 doors in from the Duomo and would get up early and go sit and have breakfast in the piazza. It was surreal.

Ava’sPapa, I think this is the first time I’ve seen you—thanks for coming and the nice comment. I’m happy they stimulated memories.

Charles, thanks so much for the 3 thumbs up! Happy to please.

nimbushopper, thank you very much! Happy to help.

yssirk123, nice to see you! Thanks for the very nice comments. However, the photos in this set were taken with a Nikon D50.

Longshadow, thanks for the 2 thumbs up! I’m glad you liked it.

Jay, always happy to hear from you. Thanks for the nice comment. Happy to please.

blacks2, I really appreciate your nice comment and the 4 thumbs!

Steve, thank you very much. You’re welcome—I enjoy sharing.

2Dragons, thanks for the very nice comment. I’m glad I could engender such nice memories. I do appreciate the smile and 3 thumbs, too.

Earnest, I’m pleased you liked the set. Thank you very much.

UTMike, thank you very very much. I’m happy you enjoyed it.

Garson, thanks for coming and the nice comments. I had 2 Nikkormats—one was a replacement after the first got stolen in Los Angeles. It was the first SLR I owned (following a Petri 7S rangefinder) and I chose it because the controls more closely imitated those of a rangefinder camera (rings around the lens). I agree that they took great photos. I’ve probably still got the second one in a closet somewhere, but haven’t seen it in a long time. I used the Nikkormat for Part 1 photos, not these.

afsalvo, thank you for the nice comments. You’re welcome—I like to share.

Hueg2015, thanks for coming and the very nice comment.
