To each it’s own. My wife has her fork in the right hand, while I hold it with my left hand. Amazingly we both clean our plate.

LR is my main route for printing control. Also adjusting color and light.

When you're on your wife's right, it's easier to hold her right hand with your left.

I tried lightroom but not using it. I don't like it but it's me. I think if it had value to you before it should have the same or more not losing value now.

Currently and most of the time, I only need LR for its White-balance, Lighting functions and Raw-Jpeg conversion. Then I process the image much easier and faster with the plug-ins of Topaz (Adjust AI, Denoise AI, Sharpen AI, Clean, ReMask) and Lumina AI. Do you agree?

Me think you just stepped off the cliff! Let the verbal battle begin!

Is Lightroom losing value for me? No and it gets more valuable every day.

Lirghtroom handles 95% of my processing and 100% of the cataloging. The rest is in Photoshop. If you learn the Adobe tools, you will have little need for other products. In the end, do the others really give you a product that you cannot get in LR/PS? The cataloging is great. I can find photos in under three seconds in LR out of 50,000 pictures.

I am sure the other products are good with friendlier user-interfaces. Want to make life easier in LR? Create your own presets. I rarely spend more than three minutes on a picture in LR and I do not need an extra DNG or TIFF to take up space and time.

Try it. Maybe you will like it.

Lightroom gains in value for me with every update.

I try others from time to time but none measure up. It is hard for them to compete because I am proficient with Lightroom and their approaches flummox me.

I do things with Photoshop from time to time but am usually annoyed by its complexity.

"Lightroom" comes in a system of many constantly evolving, growing and interrelated parts. It is nowhere near losing value! I would argue that it is always increasing in value. The exception might be for those that restrict themselves a habitual workflow and ignore the flow of features, tools and techniques that come with the $10/mo subscription.

If you pay for something and then refuse to use it, who is to blame?

Not completely but its moving in that direction. I rely on Topaz for some things but C1 does the heavy lifting.

So that statement could be made about a lot of camera bodies also. Or cars. Or treadmills. Or microwaves.

Products are designed to appeal to as wide an audience as possible to increase the sales potential. I think it is unlikely that you will always use all of the features of any one product. If the subset of features that you do use is important to you, then you have made a successful purchase.

I have a claw hammer, but I rarely pull out nails.

You say, "Then I process the image much easier and faster with the plug-ins of Topaz (Adjust AI, Denoise AI, Sharpen AI, Clean, ReMask) and Lumina AI."

I have found these programs that you mention to be somewhat faster than grass growing (in the winter) but much slower than LR. Processing in LR is the same as ACR in PS. If you are processing RAW images LR and PS are usually the most complete and fastest way to go.

The Topaz programs can do a better job than LR or PS but I use them only as needed becuz of their relatively slow as molasses process and save times.
