Google Photos, Etc.
First, 'The Rant' -
I use Google Photos mainly BC it's a great storage tool, where you can scroll up/down to a 'year' that you want to check out, and there they are! - There is a 'Share' Button, BUT, - There is NO Provision to R.Click,& 'Copy' a photo to share on email, or use for anything! - (when I try, they want the recipient to have a 'Google Acct.' in order to Share, and Good Luck using it for any other reason!) -
I hope that a fellow Hogger will help make a fool of me, and explain the workaround!
Second, - Do any of you have suggestions as to a Simple, 'Picasa' type Photo Editor for simple things,
- such as Cropping, Straightening, Lightening, Darkening, Highlights, Shadows?
Picasa was the perfect tool for everyday photos and snapshots, even tho I have Lightroom, (4), and Photoshop Elements 2021, Picasa was so easy, simple, and had the basic adjustments for 95% of photos I'd like to share, Not to mention that you could 'Share' directly to E-Mail with it as well! - - (OK, I 'mentioned' it!)
( LR 4 is all I could deal with when I first got it, & now I can't Upgrade to 6 w/o a Subscription to Adobe)
So any help from anyone out there in Hogger Land, would be MUCH appreciated! - Thanks, Pat
Pat, if you are using a Windoze system, Irfanview (with the additional plugins) would do most of what you want, if not all. It's free.

You have two tools in LR4 and PSE-2021 that can handle all your JPEG editing needs, tools you've paid good money for. LR is extremely efficient once you get a feel for it. Consider spending some quality time on free training videos for either / both available from many different authors on u-tube.
Irfanview, which has been mentioned, and Faststone (which I really like for simple things) will suit those needs and are both free.

PhotoScapeX can be used accurately with 3 or 4 clicks or you can REALLY get into serious editing. Here are a couple of sites for you, Enjoy. Be sure to select Mac/or Windows. Get the free version first (it never expires), and you can always upgrade. Also, please do yourself a favor and watch the following YouTube videos to see if you would be interested and for training.

Select your photo click the (y)looking symbol select share and choose your email app to send from Goggle Photos
Why not continue to use Picasa if it meets your needs for basic photo editing? Picasa is still available for download from numerous websites and this is but one that I have safely used in the past.

I can't help with your first question but I have about 10 editing programs and one simple editor I cannot do without is Irfanview. If you make it your default editor, you never have to take a picture to it to use it. When you open any picture, it is already in the program. You just click on what you want to edit at the top of the page. It does a lot more than you'd think and is SOOOOO simple to use.

In addition, it gives you the option to open an image from Irfanview into any of three other programs that you pre-select. I always preview all my images in Irfanview where I can delete jpg and nef images while viewing them full screen. It is also easy to see a selected portion of an image full screen with a drag and a click. And it is free & fast!

I have two twelve terabyte servers to store my images. One here at the house and the second backup one at my Daughters house 250 miles away. Both are UPS power and are self healing rads. They take 8 to 12 hours to rebuild after a drive failure..

To share a photo (from Google Photos) via email just click on the share icon (looks like a rectangle with an upward pointing arrow and then click “share as” and one of the options will come up as email. You can also just copy a link to the photo and then paste that link into either an email or a text message.
On the issue of tweaking photos, the tools available in Google Photos are similar to those that used to be available in Picasa.
Windows includes a free program called "Photos." It does simple but powerful edits. I use it often.

I've been using Irfanview for almost 2 DECADES - first discovered it when the author was still a student. So impressed, sent him a donation. It's one of a few programs that goes on every computer I own. It's my default photo viewer and for quick edits, especially resizing a photo for e-mailing. Make sure, besides the program, you install the plugins.
