Visiting Santa Fe and Taos in early August.
What photo gear should I take?
I Have a Nikon Z6 with 24-70 and 24-200- as well as a Z50 (DX) with 16-50 and 50-250.
Considering purchasing a 14-30 for the Z6.
Any suggestions as to photo incidentals as well as clothing, protective gear, etc. is greatly appreciated.

Ken, these are really difficult question(s) to answer. Are you trying to photograph architecture and buildings? People? Culture?

"I Have a Nikon Z6 with 24-70 and 24-200- as well as a Z50 (DX) with 16-50 and 50-250.

Don't over pack your kit. It sounds to me that you have what you need. The photographer makes the images, not the lens or camera combination(s). I understand that. You have a nice combination of lenses for the area, and unless you are a wildlife photographer (like me) then no need for a larger lens. Wide angle lens with a full frame? I don't think you need another lens. I think that you already have what you need. Just be creative on the images. Trust me, I have lived here in the Southwest for 39 years, and in Corrales just to the south for over 20 years. Wonderful place to live, and a wonderful place to photograph.

Unless your going to be doing a lot of inside shooting in museums/architecture type photos, you probably don't need the 14-30. But it would be nice to own one. Enjoy your trip.

Driving Ken? Take them all.
Flying? How much do you want to carry?
Beautiful, vast, expansive country, more landscape, also historical, architectural and local culture more than wildlife....take the appropriate lens(es). One camera, two best lenses? Maybe the 16-50 and the 50-250...

Z6 24-200 would be all I would take.

I’ve been several time to Santa Fe, a 16-50 would be good to take. Also take a spare lens with a longer focal length. FYI, if you shoot Infrared it a great place.

LOL, great advice! Really...

Like New Mexico Dave I have lived in NM - Corrales - for many, many years and there is much to see with great photo opportunities.

Enjoy your time in NM...

When my wife and I made the same visit, I had my D800, 24-70mm, 70-200, and 28-300. I kept my 24-70mm on the entire trip. When visiting cliff side dwellings, only then would a long lens have come in handy when shooting them from the parking lot. If you get up and close, the 24-70 will do what you want. However, when driving the High Road from Santa Fe to Taos (a scenic road trip), it would have been nice to have just a little wider lens to photograph the landscape on the route. However, that was the only drawback. I think you said you were considering purchasing a wider lens? I'd recommend that for that very purpose. While in Taos, don't miss Mike's Restaurant or Cafe for the best omelets you'll ever have. Also, for a great photo op, don't miss La Hacinda de los Martinez. It was a community in an of itself, built like a fort to ward off Indians in t he early 1800's. There's also "The Gorge." Go at high noon for good lighting.

Hot, hot, hot! You’ve got what you need but you’ll regret taking all that gear. Be sure to get Bandelaro.

Get the 14-30.
Bring every thing you mentioned and leave in the car if you want.
At least it will be available.
It is warm mid 70's to 90's generally.
Protective gear?
Not sure what that is, there should be no lethal threats in either location so no protective gear.
I generally wear trousers, shirt and a hat with sneakers.
