I have lived here for 31 years and this is the first time I have seen a peacock in the neighborhood. It's a beautiful blue peacock. It is also very loud.
Nice captures, I've only seen them in zoos
Matt, you did well capturing that occurrence.

My grandfather had peacocks on his ranch.
In the evening while they were perched in the trees they would make eerie cries.
Loved it.
Stand by. They are quite noisy.

The story I heard is that they originally were on a farm on Merritt Island - decades ago. There were half a dozen that hung out for a while in Indialantic when I lived there. They would get loud, and used to drive my dog crazy when they would sit on the roof.
I've been told peacocks are not good to have in the neighborhood. They scratch cars, pull up shingles on the roof looking for food and leave messes all over. This one was calling for a hen to come. When none came I think he left the area.
Yep....they ARE Loud & Proud critters.

What a treat for everybody🧡❤️💚💙🖤💛
Beautiful shots. They are extremely loud. We had a few as pets for several years. They roosted in the trees at night and sometimes on the roof of the house. About 2 AM they sounded like they yelled HELLLLLP! A man up the road asked one day if we knew which of our neighbors was yelling for help in the middle of the night.
Lovely photos of some of Florida Peacock's, The Jungle Prada neighborhood in St Petersburg has a Jungle Prada de Navaraez Pk (might not be spelled right) which is a 1,000 year old archaeological site which has about 50 resident peacocks. They run free in the local neighborhood in fact street signs advise drivers to be aware of the Peacock crossings. Lots of photo op's.
