Good advice from Mom -
Always buy good, not cheap.
Never return an empty dish.
Never take more food than you can eat.
Always clean your plate. There are starving children in _________(the blank changed as the the situation did) who would love that food.
Always wear your best underwear. You never know if you will be in an accident or fall down.
Always keep a dime in your shoe so you can call home.
If you have nothing good to say, say nothing. (She stole this one from Thumper’s mother)
Smile. Nobody wants to be around a grump or a grouch.
Save a little something for tomorrow.
Remember the magic words: please, thank-you, love you, miss you.
Forgive but don’t forget. Learn from every mistake.
Never complain. no one wants to hear it.
Talk less and listen more.
Always walk toward the sun, so the shadows will fall behind you.
TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN. Another one is Red SKELETON'S PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG. anGODbless
Add mine:
Don't GET high blood pressure - GIVE high blood pressure.
(For the Bible teaches us it is more blessed to give than receive.)
No Blood, No Worry.
If you're not bleeding, it's not serious.
You are not your ancestors.
Most importantly, remember this old Jewish proverb:
"Every day's a holiday and every meal's a feast."
I remember hearing some of those from my mom and grandma

After reading #3 and #4, I am confused by #2.
If someone gives you food in a dish, when you return the dish make sure some food is in it for the recipient. Kinda like, “One good turn deserves another”

I see now. #2 refers to a serving dish. But my wife goes crazy when no one will take the last piece!
I remember being chastised for saying “ya” or “yeah” instead of Yes. Nowadays, a complete 180 or Yes is replaced with the 4 syllable oxygen depleting, “Absolutely”.

Or the even more perplexing "No Problem"
"Every day's a holiday and every meal's a feast."[/quote]
A lot of Marines will be familiar with that last one:
“Another day in the Marine Corps where every day is a holiday and every mail a banquet”

Not the food that came in it originally. A contribution from your own kitchen.
