Shakespeare lovers released them in Brooklyn in 1851 and then in San Francisco and Salt Lake City about 1870. They brought over a few species of birds mentioned in old Will's writings before they were convinced to stop introducing non-native species. And in 1870 someone from New Zealand introduced them to Hawaii.
