Good photo! 1950 I think, with a good bit of modern bodywork. One of Studebaker's best sellers and quite innovative for its day.

Studebaker was always one of my favorite cars. My family had a 1950 when I was a kid and I loved that front end. Looked like a rocket ship to me. My first truck was a 1957 Studebaker, and was built like a tank!

We had a battleship-gray '52 Studebaker when I was a kid. It burned a lot of oil.

There's a certain model Mercedes that has a similar front end. Retro?

Do you remember the sound of the Avanti when it was started? I don't know how they did it, but it started with a bang.

Fast Studebaker, I met a guy when I was in Kansas who had a modified Hawk. No back seat, cut that section out. Engine was a massive Cadillac V8 connected to a 3 speed manual transmission. Said, a company in Chicago built them in the late ‘50 early 60’s. Faster than a Corvette.

I liked the Hawk - great design.
