You have to look for it in the box when you buy a Fuji Mirrorless camera, but their is a little white packet of magic powder you can sprinkle on the camera body. Most people miss it.

I've seen that powder. Just don't eat it, and for sure don't get it in your eyes...

AAAHHHH...but you've stumbled on something of an example here. I've learned that BLTs are now considered completely passe by "those who really matter." IF you're not eating BLTAs, you are completely out of the loop. It's a completely new idea that absolutely blows away the old, outmoded choice. The addition of avocado represents a completely new food 'technology' that renders the old BLT completely obsolete and unsuitable for consumption, at least in public.

But wait, your BLTA is the mirrored equivalent. The mirrorless has a certified "organic" avacado...

If you're talking about chgcanon, he's no troll. He's just making little snide, tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic comments about the nature of the header question, which, IMHO, is what's "trolling" here. "Is mirrorless better than sliced bread?" Yes. No. Maybe. Who the [six deleted expletives] cares? I love his quips.

We see these threads all the time. Long-time UHH users are used to them. They go on for days, sometimes 20 pages or more. What do they accomplish? Mostly amusing a bunch of us grumpy old farts with egos and time to burn.

Yeah, mirrorless is better than bread, unless you want to make a sandwich!

Whether mirrorless is better than mirrored, depends... on a lot of situational conditions.
Warning, rant ahead br br If you're talking abo... (show quote)

All very true Mr Bill Burkholder. If you're not doing photography to earn a crust then surely it has to be fun. Are mirrorless photographs cleaner, clearer, brighter, sharper, BETTER than their DSLR cousins ? I'm sure they must be

I only had Nikon d610. Went to z6 mirrorless and not looking back. I am not a pro and find the most valuable part of mirrorless photography is seeing the shot BEFORE I take it. Been doing rim lit photos, newborn photography and general shots with the new camera. It has allowed me to move to my creative photography side with a very shallow learning curve. EVF is my best friend! I invested in 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 prior to switching. Have had no issues using the adapter to leverage my previous Nikon lens investments.

If you are wanting a mirrorless camera, I believe that you should get one. If, however, your D850 has not "done it" for you photographically, there's no particular reason to believe that any mirrorless system will, either.

I have moved through several Nikon DSLRs over the past 15 years. There was a specific need each time. The last change I made was about three and a half years ago...a D810 specifically to learn to do night sky photography. I needed a full frame camera to facilitate wide angle shooting, and I needed to be able to work under conditions of extremely limited light availability. The D850 enabled having a second body because changing lenses in the absolute dark is just too risky. Finally, I added a couple of D500s because I got tired of suddenly realizing that my trusted D300 didn't have some of the functions that my D850 did.

I then looked hard at a Z7. Had no reason for it. It just seemed interesting. Seemed at the time like it was about 80% of the D850 after shooting it for a few days. So I passed. Don't need all the "benefits" that everyone crows about.

If you are wanting a mirrorless camera because you believe that it contains some sort of magic powder that will advance your photography over the D850, my counsel would be to think very carefully about it. There is no magic powder.

Bob - EVF delay is my biggest gripe with my mirrorless. Still think they could correct that with a firmware upgrade.

G & E series lenses are NOT Nikon - Nikon has D & F (DSLR) and now I believe the S series for the Z cameras

Do you shoot a mirrorless Paul? You have replied previously, that you shot a Canon 5Dmkiii? Is this correct?

I also shoot a Sony a7II. You can see my work from the links below my reply contributions, or clicking my UHH member name that is a URL link to my profile, and from there you can list all 'topics created', looking at the Photo Gallery contributions.

Don't know how this thread started but I've found Paul's contributions to this forum are second to none. Thanks for sharing your extensive knowledge with me.
