Does anyone have any experience with this printer? I bought it, however am really disappointed with performance, as well as Canon’ s lack of response to a letter. Wondering if it’s just me

Ed - I have a Pro1000 and it's a magnificent printer capable of outstanding results. Since you didn't say what your performance issues are in either of your 2 posts, it's kind of a mystery as to what problems you're having.

I absolutely love mine. The colors are fabulous. The prints are sharp and crisp. You did not give any description of the issues/problems you are experiencing; therefore, it is difficult to make any assessment of your situation. I hope you resolve your issues.

What is the problem exactly? Print matching the computer screen? Also what printers were you using before this one? If any.

My experience over a little more than 2 years is that the 1000 is amazing, and Canon has been surprisingly responsive. They replaced my first 1000 because of a "known problem" with an ink cart that would not release to be changed. I question why you would send a letter, they have phone support that has been very helpful, and assume they have email and chat support.

Regardless, hope you get it figured out to your satisfaction.

I have the Canon Pro1000 and find it makes great picture. I bought it because I was at a Photo event and Canon was using it for the demo to print your pictures, if they use it for that it's good for me.

Had a question and called Canon (800)652-2666 and they walked me thew it.
Try and call them.
let us know how you did

And nobody has a clue what this means. Especially as there were no yes/no questions.

John, do you use 3rd party ink? If so, where do you buy it. Thanks, Roger

First it emptied the ink cartridges. Second when I called I was told the tanks used all the ink, including the marker cartridge. Also said it is intended to be used every day. Third, I wrote to Canon USA home office, customer service manager asking why I had to buy additional cartridges at $50 each even though I had only printed maybe 10 prints. No response, so I sent it again. Still no response.

Hi Ed. The initial startup doesn't use all the ink, it fills the feeder lines to the printhead and that ink is usable. When I first got the Pro-1000 I saw the reported ink cartridge levels (after startup) at about 1/2 full if memory serves me. And I know that I got way more than 10 prints from that initial set of inks.

One thing to be aware of is if you let the printer sit without printing it will run cleaning cycles and empty some ink into the waste tank. I'm okay with that because it prevents printhead clogs like frequently occur on Epsons.

Good luck with your printer and I hope you get things sorted out.
