Great movie. I didn't go to the dentist for some time after seeing it. Thanks for the memory.

Also in the Harry Potter series of movies.

However, there are so any interesting and well depicted villains from the movies that to pick the best is impossible.

Yellowstone series. Everyone is bad there are just different levels of bad. The least worse are John Dutton and Rip his button man. Gotta problem get Rip. Go to youtube and type Yellowstone motorcycles and watch Rip in action.

All the people who are trying to take Dutton's ranch are the worst. The next season starts in June on the paramount network

I think "Red Dragon" was actually the prequel to "Silence of the Lambs", not a sequel. A great book that didn't quite make it as a film, IMHO.

You are correct...I mixed up my "...quels".

Mea Culpa

And for your punishment and atonement, you're sentenced to four consecutive showings of "Plan 9 From Outer Space".

Sorry...the Constitution offers protections from cruel and unusual punishment.

How about Alan Arkin in "Wait until Dark".

I vote for:

Max Cady (Robert Dinero) in Cape Fear

"Counselor. Come out, come out, wherever you are."

"I ain't no white trash piece of sh*t. I'm better than you all. I can out-learn you. I can out-read you. I can out-think you. And I can out-philosophize you. And I'm gonna outlast you. You think a couple whacks to my guts is gonna get me down? It's gonna take a hell of a lot more than that, Counselor, to prove you're better than me."

"Counselor, could you be there?"

I would also put up Gary Oldman for just about any villain he played...especially Stansfield in The Professional and Drexl Spivey in True Romance.

With all the villains listed in this topic...I would have to think if they were all pitted against each other, the character Dr. Hannibal Lecter would come out on top based on his intellect and animal viciousness.

I still think Norman Bates in Psycho was the scariest of all.
