Instead of renting a bridge, rent or buy an m4/3 with dual slots and put really big cards in both slots, set for duplicate (aka back up) recording. Plenty of lens choice but many users swear by the 12-100/4.0 Zuiko. And, the whole combo is weather resistant. You won’t feel under equipt or over burdened.

Since my original post six years ago when I went to Israel, I had bought a used Panasonic Lumix FZ-200 (wasn't really impressed in aggregate, but I got a wall-hanger out of it) and still brought my laptop, anyways. Since then 2 trips were cancelled by COVID. Next summer I'll (hopefully) be going to France, spending my birthday in Paris - and maybe - Switzerland, if I can find the money. I'd also bought an a99ii which, despite the additional weight would probably be worth taking. I've never used an m4/3, but if it's the size of the Lumix, it'd feel too small in my hands.

Take MORE SD cards with you, transfer them when you return home - no 'gizmo' to haul around & fiddle with!

Ima gonna agree.
Small, reliable, packable, hideable.

Seagate drives are mostly SMRs. Good quality and reads, sloow writes.
You have to specifically ask them- are they good for RAIDed NAS work.
They'll say "Not really designated for that kind of work".
Still, they're good for backups. Plug, play, place back on shelf,
WDs are mostly CMRs, and they'll tell you if you look them up.

I just shucked a WD 10tb, and found a Red drive. Happy Boi!
I have a 2tb Seagate that I'll fill with movies and photos, stick that in and send it for Xmas.

Perhaps even more important, at least to me, would be to take along a hand full of new cards. Shoot them up and store them. If your camera is doing what it's supposed to do all your shots should be there when you get home.

Also don't forget the voltage converter - Europe is 220 and we're 110.

Good luck and have a blast.

this is what I was going to recommend... extra cards can't cost all that much...
just load'em up and download later, at home !!
