Can Pregnant Female Mallards Smile When They are Happy?

Yesterday morning, I watched the pregnant female Mallard who has returned to my back yard once again to lay her eggs after a two year absence. A strange thought wafted over me as I looked at her face. It appeared as if she was smiling at me though my kitchen window. I felt silly that I even considered the possibility that she might remember me feeding her day after day as she sat on her eggs keeping them warm under a bush in my back yard." I ask the intelligent photographers on UHH, "Even though the soon to be a mommy duck has no lips, does she look like she is smiling to you?"

Great shot,
They may not have lipe but they DO have expression somehow.
She seems content and pleased. Half at attention.

Dear jdub82...She looked so content and peaceful that the frantic Starlings all around her completely left her alone because she was no threat to them. Thank you for your comments.
